Diane participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Cincinnati September 24, 2011. She submitted her story:

I was first diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in June of 2001.  I had gone for a routine mammogram in April of 2001 and was told that all was well.  Then in June 2001 while drying my hair, I noticed a ‘puckering’ of skin on my left breast.  I call for an appointment with Dr. Donna Stahl’s office and upon exam was sent for a biopsy.  Sure enough, cancer was found.  I had the left breast removed in July, 2001, developed MRSA following the surgery but  was not diagnosed for that infection until September 2001 and nearly died from the infection.  Dr. Cody, my oncologtist,  started chemo as soon as he could given the infection process followed by radiation treatments and the oral meds for the next eight years.  In October of 2009 following a routine CT scan, bone cancer in my left hip was discovered.  I am now undergoing monthly injections which will hopefully slow down the progression of the bone cancer for years to come.  I have yearly CT scans and bone scans to make sure that the injections are doing their job.

Thank you for your support in fighting this awful disease and for your interest in my story,

Dianne

The Susan Komen Race for the Cure 2011 was an outstanding event! We were located next to the Survivors’ Tent and met lots of amazing individuals coming together for a good cause.  Because of the cold temperatures, our Pink Hot Chocolate was a great big hit. Everyone loved it!  There were even several men who commented that you are not a “real” man until you drink Pink Hot Chocolate!!!

Our Breast Cancer baskets are available to send to your friends, family or favorite survivor. If you call us, we can give you all of the  ordering information. We are donating $2.00 per basket, as well as 10% of sales of the Pink Hot Chocolate. Contact us at 513.672.3400!

We are very proud to partner with Susan G Komen for the Cure every year!  It is a joy to live in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky community and to see such a huge turnout year after year. Thank you all for your participation, and try one of our baskets today!
